In the Big Hopes post, I told you about the resources I wanted to make available on the site. Today, I’d like to tell you how that’s going.
It’s moving along but it’s also terribly frustrating. Not the work and research itself but the information I’m getting. With the exception of the last three days, my research has been 100% online based. I wasn’t aware of how many shelters weren’t maintaining their web presence until I started making calls this week. When searching for things like women’s shelters, food banks and no kill animal shelters, I am finding the exact same thing. Many places aren’t sure how much longer they are going to be open. Every city, county and state that I’ve talked to so far has the same story. It’s heartbreaking.
I believe, with my whole heart, that Project Offspring will help to make things better for a lot of people. The space, the resources and the love. With that said, I can’t go forward, in good conscious, without making this request. The rest of this week, instead of donating to Project Offspring, please find a local food bank, homeless shelter, no-kill animal shelter, woman’s shelter, ect to donate to. Every single one of these places are in dire need right now.
Yes, Project Offspring needs funding. The difference is, if we don’t reach our financial goal by the end of this month, we can continue to fund raise next month. We can keep going. We have the time, the energy and the belief in this project. These places that are there to help others, are not so lucky. First and foremost, Project Offspring wants to prove that we can provide a safe place online that also has a conscious. Let’s not wait until the site is up and running before we start to try to make the world better.
If you are able, please donate money, food, clothing, pet food, litter, toys, blankets or anything you possibly can, locally. If you can’t find a place to donate to in your area, get in touch with me and let me know what state you are in. I will find them for you.
Prior to writing this, I spoke with someone who was on their way to the campaign page to donate. They believe in our project greatly and seemed torn between the two things, as they could only give to one. Let me be clear, anything that you can physically give (including volunteer work) needs to go to your local charities. I can’t stress enough how low funding and supplies are for everyone. If after that, you still want to help Project Offspring, you can do so by going to the Project Offspring campaign page. Every time you go there, it counts in our favor. As well as, using the email, facebook, twitter and/or embedded links provided on the campaign page to help get the word out. You can help us just by showing up!
